Socialism - The Sequel

Listening to the translations of Osama Bin Laden's recent rant, it is shocking to see that socialism is alive and well in a world that should know a lot better. Forget that the words were spoken by Bin Laden. Instead, look at the words he spoke (words that were clearly written by someone else as Bin Laden could care less about the Kyoto Agreement) and see that they are the same words espoused by many people who agree with the sentiments and STILL after all these years seem to wish to create a world of socialist utopia. You would think that decades of failed socialist experiments would have led people to abandon such crackpot ideologies. Yeah, right. For some people, time never moves forward and classical Marxists and socialists seem to never go away.

One of the main reasons for a love of socialism is simply ideology and belief neither of which are faculties possessed by people who seek the truth. Socialism, pure and simple, is not a workable form of government. Socialism also does not need to exist in a totalitarian regime for it to be devastating. Consider the example of Denmark where a 60% income tax rate has led to a huge labor shortage. That is, people other have departed the country and heading to greener pastures where the income tax rates are lower or they simply are working less realizing that the bulk of their work will go to taxes…often subsidizing people who work less. But there will always be those die hards who will not acknowledge the absolute disaster associated with what is essentially a crackpot economic theory.
