This is, of course, something that should prove to be of a lot of concern to the west as it essentially proclaims a massive rollback of democracy in Russia and the slow return of the old Soviet style police state/dictatorship. There will be those, however, who do not see the significance and the serious of such a situation and that is because they are simply naive to the way in which the governments of the world work. When a government is not accountable to its people it is not a legitimate government. Instead, it is a rogue state ruled by elites who are self serving. Such regimes never last because they crumble from within. But, before they are through they end up doing not only a great deal of harm to their own people, but to people and nations all around the world.
