To say that these are provocative
statements would be more than a reserved opinion. It would be delusional. It
makes you wonder why the US
doesn't start to serious address this situation with Russia or, more accurately, with
Putin. Probably the one reason that made the most sense was offered by an
analyst on the radio whose name escaped me. The analyst stated that you simply
do not call someone your enemy unless you are currently ready to deal with
them. In the case of Russia,
"dealing with then" would mean a massive military build up as well as
pointing nuclear missiles in their direction. That would, of course, start
another Cold War and no one seems to want that especially in light of the fact
that the current War on Terror has the US military strained as it is. But
if statements like this continue then an eventual declaration of a new Cold War
is bound to occur.
