Hey! WhatsamattaU Warheads
The Associated Press rarely has anything good to say about our military and after yesterday's revelation that Russia has expressed a desire to use preemptive nuclear strikes the AP has decided to take the USA to task for its nuclear missile. In this case, they aren't reliable enough. Yup, don't trust those Trident Missile Warheads. They may be a dud.
Granted, this is a serious issue. While the actual use of nuclear missiles is doubtful to ever occur again they are a major portion of the bedrock that is US national defense. If they are is disrepair then that is a problem that needs to be addressed. 30 years from now hopefully the national archives will declassify the "role" of nuclear submarines in the modern day. That is, what their specific purpose and strategical use is and why the subs are placed in certain regions of the world as opposed to others.
A while back I read some declassified info from the Nixon Era regarding nuclear weapons and it was eye opening to say the least.
