Route 66 Cold War Episode

I have been working on a rough draft of an analysis of the classic, brilliant 1960's television series ROUTE 66 having just received the first season DVD from Netflix (There's a plug for you guys) and there is one episode that deals with a town hiding in a mine shaft due to the town's belief that a nuclear strike is forthcoming. I'll link to the article when it is finished but I wanted to mention it here because it proves the point that the effects of the Cold War literally touched every aspect of American culture during the 1960's. While some of the pop culture references to the Cold War present an image of paranoia the fact remains that there was a significant threat in the form of thousands of nuclear missiles and it did send shivers up the spine of the American if not the world's.
